Who can see your things
- James, who runs this app, can see everything in every account. That's how it's operated and backed up. Nobody else can see your pieces unless you share a gallery or research a piece (see below).
- Photos are stored at permanent web addresses. Anyone who has a photo's address can open it, signed in or not. The addresses are long and random, but they are not secret once shared.
- Gallery links can be forwarded. Anyone holding one can open it; links don't expire, and nobody is told who opened them. Revoking a link closes the page, but photos already opened or saved can't be taken back.
- Research sends things to other companies. Identify and Research for sale send your photos to Google (Cloud Vision), to SerpAPI, which searches Google with them, and to Anthropic (Claude), along with the piece's notes, to identify and price it. Pieces you never research are never sent.
- Photos are stored without their location. Your browser re-draws each photo before upload, which drops the location and the camera's own details, and the server refuses any photo that still carries a location.
- Backups: the database (pieces, notes, outcomes — not photos) is backed up weekly to a private GitHub repository, and each backup is kept for 90 days.
- Leaving: Owners & ledgers → Delete account removes everything immediately, except the backup copies, which expire within 90 days, and a count of how many web searches were used, which is kept without your name.
- Questions: ask the person who invited you.
